The role of Sous Chef at Flik Independent School Dining is vital for the successful operation of the Culinary Department within a facility. Working closely with the Executive Chef, the Sous Chef will help supervise, prepare, and cook a variety of food items. This position involves developing daily menu items, assisting with order management, and ensuring food quality and presentation meet company standards. The Sous Chef may oversee hourly associates and is involved in creating innovative menus and culinary experiences, including catering events. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an entrepreneurial, energetic culinary professional eager to contribute to high-volume and complex foodservice operations. The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $68,000 per year. Job Requirements

  • Education level of an associate degree or equivalent culinary experience
  • experience in culinary management or kitchen supervision
  • skills in menu development and food preparation
  • ability to supervise hourly kitchen staff
  • strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office
  • willingness to participate in client satisfaction programs
  • ServSafe certification preferred

Job Qualifications

  • A.S. degree or equivalent experience
  • progressive culinary or kitchen management experience
  • catering experience preferred
  • experience in high volume, complex foodservice operations
  • knowledge of institutional and batch cooking techniques
  • comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends focusing on quality, production, sanitation, cost control, and presentation
  • computer proficiency including Microsoft Office, email, and internet
  • ServSafe certification highly desirable

Job Duties

  • Assist the Executive Chef with managing cost controls and expenditures for the account
  • assist the Executive Chef with planning and creating menus
  • produce and execute catering events
  • roll out new culinary programs in conjunction with company marketing and culinary team
  • supervise and train kitchen and hourly associates
  • ensure food quality, sanitation, and presentation standards are met
  • support client satisfaction programs and activities
