Job Description

Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar is a family-run group of restaurants based out of Southern California. Established with the mission to nourish connections among guests, teammates, and communities, Lazy Dog has become a beloved destination characterized by warm, small-town hospitality and handcrafted food and drinks. Their inviting social setting encourages people to enjoy the moment and build relationships around the table. Inspired by the Rocky Mountains lifestyle, where founder Chris Simms spent much of his childhood, Lazy Dog provides an ideal environment whether you're looking for a casual weeknight dinner, a relaxed meal with friends, or a festive night out. Open for lunch and dinner daily, the restaurant features an extensive bar program with specialty cocktails crafted from fresh ingredients, a diverse selection of craft and local beers, and its own house beer offerings. Lazy Dog prides itself on being more than just a dining venue but a neighborhood culinary destination that cultivates happy guests and creates a sense of community through shared meals.

Lazy Dog has earned Certified Great Place to Work status for 8 consecutive years, underscoring its commitment to a people-first culture where culinary passion meets warm hospitality. The organization firmly believes that happy teams create exceptional experiences, making it a supportive and engaging environment for team members. Currently, Lazy Dog is seeking a Sous Chef who is passionate about scratch cooking and leading with heart, someone who values teamwork and enjoys contributing to a positive workplace atmosphere. This role offers an attractive salary range of $70,000 to $76,000 per year, along with a comprehensive benefits package.

As a Sous Chef at Lazy Dog, you will play a critical role in guiding the culinary team, overseeing kitchen operations, and helping to maintain the high standards of quality and service that define the brand. The Sous Chef position requires strong experience in full-service, high-volume scratch cooking along with demonstrated skills in culinary management and guest service. You will be responsible for training, developing, and coaching a team of talented kitchen staff while fostering a culture of trust and respect. Effective communication skills in English and Spanish are important to successfully lead and collaborate with the team. The role is ideal for culinary professionals eager to achieve personal and professional growth within an organization that rewards dedication and excellence.

This opportunity is perfect for individuals who are excited about culinary artistry, leadership, and creating memorable dining experiences. Lazy Dog offers career development and advancement opportunities, paid vacation, comprehensive medical, vision, dental, and life insurance coverage, as well as company-paid meal dining privileges and a 401K plan with company match. Join Lazy Dog and become part of a culture that values caring, continuous growth, and great benefits.
