The role of Sous Chef at Maggiano's Little Italy is both challenging and rewarding, serving as the heartbeat of the kitchen. This position is located in Charlotte, North Carolina, at 4400 Sharon Road, with a competitive salary range of $65,000 to $70,000 annually. As a Sous Chef, you will play a crucial leadership role by overseeing daily kitchen operations, mentoring and coaching line cooks and kitchen teammates, and ensuring every dish that leaves the kitchen meets Maggiano's high standards for quality, consistency, and presentation. This role is essential for upholding the culinary traditions of Italian-American cuisine through excellent food preparation and operational practices.

The Sous Chef collaborates closely with the Executive Chef and is instrumental in maintaining food safety and sanitation standards in line with health regulations. This role requires managing food production, prep lists, and inventory to minimize waste while supporting the kitchen team during high-volume and peak-hour periods. There is a strong emphasis on leadership, as the Sous Chef develops the next generation of kitchen talent through hands-on coaching and example-setting. Job Requirements

  • 2+ years of culinary leadership experience in a full-service restaurant
  • Strong command of Italian-American cuisine and classic cooking techniques
  • Proven ability to lead train and motivate a kitchen team
  • Knowledge of food safety sanitation and health code compliance
  • Flexibility to work evenings weekends and holidays as needed
  • Able to perform essential job functions in a dynamic restaurant environment which may include exposure to varying temperatures noise levels and peak-hour demands
  • Able to move throughout the restaurant retrieve items from shelves and storage areas and transport supplies weighing up to 30 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation
