The Senior Living Sous Chef role at Merrill Gardens at Campbell is an exciting opportunity for culinary professionals who have a passion for working with seniors and want to contribute to their overall wellness through high-quality food preparation. The Sous Chef will support the Executive Chef in managing kitchen operations, ensuring that meals prepared are of exceptional quality and that food safety standards are meticulously followed. This role is perfect for someone with a minimum of five years' experience in scratch cooking within a high-volume, fine dining environment and who enjoys crafting meals that delight residents while maintaining nutritional standards.
As a key member of the culinary team, the Sous Chef plays an essential role in creating a warm dining experience that enhances the lives of senior residents. The position involves overseeing daily kitchen activities in the absence of the Executive Chef, managing team members during shifts, maintaining accurate records of food production and temperature logs, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. The successful candidate will exhibit strong culinary skills combined with effective leadership and organizational abilities to maintain smooth kitchen operations.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years culinary experience in quality food preparation
- Experience in scratch cooking in high volume, fine dining setting
- Proficiency in computer use including MS Outlook and Word
- Culinary certification or degree preferred
- Ability to stand and walk frequently
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years experience in quality food preparation
- Experience in scratch cooking in high-volume, fine dining setting
- Proficiency in computer skills including MS Outlook and Word
- Culinary training
- Certification or degree in culinary preferred
- Strong leadership and communication skills
Job Duties
- Prepare food items following proper procedures specified by Executive Chef
- Maintain documentation of all temperature charts and records
- Oversee and direct dining service team members during shifts in absence of Executive Chef
- Accurately complete all food production records in accordance with company policies
- Support daily kitchen operations and quality control
- Assist with training and mentoring culinary team members
- Perform other duties as assigned
