Their mission focuses on delivering top-quality dining experiences to clients and guests, while simultaneously fostering extensive career growth opportunities for team members. CulinArt is distinguished by its innovative approach to foodservice, consistently revitalizing and transforming their offerings to stay ahead in a competitive market. They cater to many Fortune 500 companies and prestigious educational institutions, offering a dynamic workplace with potential for advancement across multiple industry sectors and geographic locations.
The company is currently seeking a full-time Sous Chef to join their team at the Stryker North Medical location in Portage, Michigan. The position offers a weekday schedule from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with potential variations depending on business needs. Compensation for this role ranges between $18.00 and $20.00 per hour, emphasizing a competitive wage aligned with the demands of the culinary profession.
The Sous Chef plays a crucial role in supporting the Executive Chef by preparing and cooking foods, coordinating the activities of cooks and other food-service associates, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations. In the absence of the Executive Chef, the Sous Chef assumes responsibility for overseeing the kitchen staff and food service associates. Key duties include cooking food according to approved recipes and production standards, supervising hourly employees through interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, and disciplinary actions as necessary, maintaining proper food safety and sanitation procedures, and managing inventory and supply deliveries. The Sous Chef also ensures food presentation, portion control, and temperature maintenance meet high standards, while keeping the kitchen and display areas clean and compliant with all regulatory requirements.
Apart from technical culinary skills, this position demands excellent leadership, communication, and customer service abilities, including resolving complaints in a service-oriented manner and explaining daily menu items clearly to both associates and customers. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills to handle peak production hours effectively and maintain a professional, efficient kitchen environment.
CulinArt offers a comprehensive benefits package to its associates, reinforcing its commitment to employee welfare. This includes retirement plans, associate shopping programs, health and wellness initiatives, and various insurance options such as pet insurance and critical illness coverage. Full-time employees additionally enjoy medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with commuter benefits, employee assistance programs, and flexible spending accounts. The company adheres to principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion, fostering a workplace culture that values diverse perspectives and equal opportunities for all employees.
Joining CulinArt means becoming part of a respected industry leader dedicated not only to culinary excellence but also to the professional growth and well-being of its team members. This Sous Chef opportunity at the Stryker North Medical site is ideal for culinary professionals with previous catering or cooking experience seeking stable, full-time employment in a supportive, innovative environment where their skills and leadership can flourish.
