We are currently hiring full-time Sous Chefs to join our team at Holmes Regional Medical Center located at 1350 South Hickory Street, Melbourne, FL 32901. This position offers an hourly wage ranging from $20.00 to $23.00, reflecting the important role the Sous Chef plays in maintaining high standards in food preparation and kitchen operations. This is a full-time role requiring open availability, including weekends, with specific days and hours to be determined during the interview process. As a Sous Chef at Morrison Healthcare, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Executive Chef by preparing and cooking food according to approved recipes and production standards. You will coordinate activities of cooks and other food-service associates, ensuring that all kitchen operations run smoothly even in the absence of the Executive Chef. Your responsibilities will include supervising and training hourly food service staff, managing inventory and supplies, maintaining sanitation standards, and ensuring proper food handling and presentation that meets corporate, state, and federal regulations.

This role requires a minimum of one year of previous culinary experience, making it essential for candidates to bring a solid foundation of kitchen skills and knowledge. Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards
  • Ensures all deadlines are met based on production orders
  • Supervises hourly food service associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews and recommending disciplinary action as appropriate
  • Stores food in designated areas following all corporate, state, and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures
  • Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils
  • Cleans workstation thoroughly before leaving area
  • Keeps display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service to comply with all sanitation, safety, production and merchandising requirements
  • Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner
  • Relays relevant information directly to supervisor
  • Demonstrates complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explains them to associates and customers
  • Keeps up with peak production and service hours
  • Monitors inventory and deliveries of product and supplies
  • Tracks product production, consumption and waste
  • Informs supervisor when supplies or product are low
  • Performs other duties as assigned
