Within this reputable establishment, the culinary team plays a crucial role in delivering an outstanding dining experience aligned with the community's high standards. Currently, Rolling Green Village is seeking a hospitality-minded Sous Chef to join their culinary department. This role is designed for a professional who is passionate about food service and eager to contribute to the well-being of residents through excellent meal preparation and kitchen operations management. The position is crafted to operate within a full-service, cook-to-order restaurant setting that caters specifically to the retirement community's residents. The work schedule is flexible, offering AM and PM shift options, generally ensuring no hours extend past 8pm, which supports a healthy work-life balance for employees.

As a valued member of the culinary team, the Sous Chef will receive complimentary meals and uniforms, underscoring the community's appreciation for its staff. This role carries significant responsibility, including assisting in the planning, scheduling, and supervising of kitchen personnel to sustain smooth daily operations. The Sous Chef will collaborate closely with the Kitchen Manager in menu development, aiming to uphold the high culinary standards expected by both management and residents alike.

Education and continuous training are vital components of this position. The Sous Chef will be responsible for ensuring that kitchen staff receive appropriate education aligned with Rolling Green Village's staff education program. Additionally, the role involves providing hands-on training for food preparation and kitchen personnel, fostering a culture of skill development and operational excellence. Workforce management duties include devising work assignments for kitchen staff, assigning specific tasks, and conducting spot checks to ensure consistent adherence to quality and safety standards.

Inventory management forms an important part of the position's duties. The Sous Chef will assist in ordering, receiving, and properly storing food and kitchen supplies. Inventory controls must be meticulously maintained to ensure efficiency, particularly by monitoring par levels to balance supply needs against minimizing waste. The Sous Chef is also charged with overseeing kitchen production, sanitation, and food service operations, including supervising meal delivery to apartment and Health Center residents.

Maintaining quality and safety within the kitchen is critical. Responsibilities include monitoring line checks, managing temperature logs, and ensuring compliance with Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) standards. This includes maintaining cleanliness, organization, and ensuring proper heating, cooling, and holding of food products in all storage units. The Sous Chef will also spearhead the development and implementation of standardized recipes and precise menu specifications, further elevating the dining experience.

The compensation for this position is competitive, set at $20 per hour with an additional $4 weekend differential.
