Job Description
Brooksby Village by Erickson Senior Living is a premier continuing care retirement community located in Peabody, Massachusetts, just minutes from Boston. Situated on a sprawling 90-acre campus, Brooksby Village offers residents a vibrant lifestyle supported by comprehensive health care and wellness services. As part of Erickson Senior Living, one of the nation's largest and most respected senior living and health care providers, Brooksby Village upholds a strong commitment to enhancing the lives of the elderly by delivering financial stability, an engaging community experience, and a nurturing environment for both residents and staff. The community is dedicated to fostering an inclusive, diverse workplace free from unlawful discrimination, embracing equal opportunity employment practices.
We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team. This role is crucial for leading a high-performing back-of-house operation that delivers innovative, chef-driven dining experiences centered around quality, presentation, and exceptional service. The Sous Chef will collaborate closely with leadership teams to mentor and guide culinary staff, maintaining a positive and fast-paced kitchen environment where creativity and teamwork thrive. This position offers a competitive salary range of $60,000 to $75,000, plus an annual bonus opportunity and an attractive $7,500 sign-on bonus.
The Sous Chef at Brooksby Village will have direct responsibility for supervising scheduling, training, and creating a disciplined yet supportive atmosphere among culinary and utility staff. In the absence of the Executive Chef, this role oversees all culinary functions including staffing, food production, utility management, and ensuring kitchen sanitation standards are rigorously upheld. This position demands strong culinary skills, leadership capabilities, and proficiency with computer systems relevant to kitchen management. The successful candidate will direct daily kitchen production and food preparation to meet meal service schedules for residents, emphasizing compliance with recipes, food safety protocols, dietary restrictions, and production forecasts. Furthermore, the Sous Chef will manage the cleanliness and organization of dining rooms, kitchens, storage areas, and loading docks to uphold health standards and a welcoming dining environment.
Brooksby Village prides itself on cultivating a work-life balance with most restaurant team members finishing their shifts before 9 p.m. This commitment supports the personal and professional growth of our team members. The community offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, along with wellness reimbursements, health coaching, and telemedicine services. Employees also enjoy paid time off plans, company-paid volunteer hours compliant with state guidelines, and a strong cultural focus on diversity, inclusion, equity, and belonging. Additional benefits include onsite medical centers for wellness visits and sick care for team members aged 18 and older, a 30% discount on food and beverages with extra savings on healthy meals, and career development resources such as education assistance, certification reimbursement, and access to over 6,000 online courses.
Joining Brooksby Village means becoming part of a community that values culinary excellence and teamwork, where your leadership will directly impact the quality of life for seniors living in a supportive and enriching environment. If you have at least three years of full-service culinary experience, supervisory skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic kitchen setting, we encourage you to apply and bring your creativity, leadership, and passion for food to our team.
