Job Description
Canyon Ranch is a renowned wellness lifestyle company that has been inspiring individuals to embark on their well way of life since 1979. With immersive, life-changing destinations located in Tucson, Arizona, and Lenox, Massachusetts, along with the largest day spa in North America at The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas, Canyon Ranch stands as a leader in integrative wellness. The company’s mission revolves around helping guests achieve lasting transformation through personalized guidance delivered by world-class experts. These experts specialize in various disciplines such as health and performance, food and nutrition, spa and beauty, fitness and movement, as well as mind and spirit, all aimed at supporting members in pursuing their unique wellness paths.
The Sous Chef role at Canyon Ranch is an exciting opportunity for culinary professionals who are passionate about wellness-oriented nutrition and culinary excellence. This full-time position plays a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of the culinary team, ensuring that food quality, preparation, and presentation meet the high standards expected by Canyon Ranch. The Sous Chef not only supervises and supports the kitchen staff but also embodies the company’s nutrition philosophy, contributing to a holistic wellness experience for guests and team members alike.
Working at Canyon Ranch offers a structured schedule without late nights, promoting a healthier work-life balance compared to traditional restaurant kitchens. The role requires weekend and open availability, catering to the dynamic schedule of a wellness destination. Responsibilities include overseeing food quality and maintaining model plates for meal services, providing operational leadership by managing shifts and culinary staff readiness, and ensuring strict adherence to health and safety compliance according to Pima County Health codes and ServSafe standards.
Moreover, the Sous Chef will be actively involved in food demonstrations, special functions, and lectures within the Demonstration Kitchen. This aspect of the role allows the chef to engage directly with guests and colleagues, teaching and inspiring others through culinary presentations that align with Canyon Ranch’s food and beverage messaging. Collaboration with the Executive Chef and Culinary Instructors is also a key component, particularly in developing seasonal programming and class topics.
In addition to culinary duties, the Sous Chef will handle administrative tasks such as scheduling and supervising the colleague diner, as well as overseeing food production, storage, and handling to ensure compliance with resort standards and health guidelines. This multifaceted role is ideal for a candidate who thrives in a wellness-focused environment and is committed to excellence in culinary arts and guest experience.
Canyon Ranch offers competitive full-time employment with an attractive benefits package, including access to the company's services and facilities like the gym, spa, fitness classes, lectures, and overnight stays at all Canyon Ranch locations nationwide. Health benefits such as medical, dental, and vision are provided after 30 days of employment, along with generous paid time off including vacation, sick, and holiday leave. Additional health care options include accidental, critical illness, and hospital care insurance. Employees also receive employer-paid life insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, and paid maternity leave, reflecting the company’s dedication to supporting its workforce comprehensively.
