The Sous Chef role at North Italia is a vital position that supports the Executive Chef in leading a culinary team devoted to preparing every dish from scratch with an emphasis on quality, flavor, and excellence. The Sous Chef manages shifts, including scheduling, daily decision-making, and planning to ensure smooth kitchen operations. This position requires a thorough understanding of culinary trends and ingredient knowledge, alongside a strategic focus on financial goals, controlling cost of goods, and identifying solutions when targets are not met. The Sous Chef also plays a critical role in maintaining kitchen cleanliness, organization, and the proper care and maintenance of equipment.

In this role, the Sous Chef is expected to create a calm and positive work environment while managing on-the-fly requests with ease and poise. They foster continuous learning among the team by providing open and honest feedback and implementing corrective actions when necessary. Labor management and adherence to budget expectations are key responsibilities as well, with an emphasis on sales and labor budgets and the ability to discuss profit and loss statements with the management team. North Italia offers a competitive salary range of $65,000 to $72,000 per year along with a robust benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, company-paid group life insurance, short-term and long-term disability coverage, paid time off including vacation and sick time, a Health Savings Account, a 401k plan with company match, tuition assistance, and Employee Assistance Programs. This position requires availability to work ten-hour plus shifts, including closing shifts, weekends, and holidays. Job Requirements
