The full-time Sous Chef role at Eurest, based at Parker Hannifin located at 2220 Palmer Avenue, Kalamazoo, MI, offers a unique opportunity for culinary professionals who are passionate about food preparation and kitchen management. This position, scheduled Monday through Friday with flexible hours, pays a fixed rate of $22.00 per hour and emphasizes reliability and previous food service experience as key requirements. The Sous Chef collaborates closely with the Executive Chef to prepare and cook meals following approved recipes and production standards. They also take on supervisory responsibilities, including managing hourly food service associates, overseeing scheduling, training, payroll, and disciplinary actions.
In this role, the Sous Chef ensures all food safety, sanitation, and corporate standards are strictly observed while maintaining high-quality food presentation, proper portion control, and accurate serving temperatures. The position involves extensive interaction with customers to resolve complaints professionally and service-orientedly and requires a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and operational efficiency in the kitchen and food service areas. Inventory tracking, supply ordering, and waste management also fall under the responsibilities of the Sous Chef.

Job Duties
- Helps Executive Chef prepare and cook foods
- coordinates activities of cooks and other food-service associates
- assumes responsibility for kitchen and food-service associates in the absence of Executive Chef
- cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards
- supervises hourly food service associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, and recommending disciplinary action
- stores food in designated areas following food safety and sanitation procedures
- ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and temperature maintenance
- maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils
- cleans workstation thoroughly and keeps display equipment clean during meal service
- interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly manner
- demonstrates complete understanding of daily menu items and explains them accurately
- monitors inventory and deliveries of product and supplies
- tracks product production, consumption, and waste
- informs supervisor when supplies or product are low
- performs other duties as assigned
