Job Description

Aiken Restaurant Group is a distinguished culinary establishment located in the charming and progressive town of Aiken, South Carolina. Known for its rich southern heritage and welcoming community, Aiken has blossomed into a vibrant city where tradition meets innovation. The town is celebrated for its unique culture, where bicycles, cars, and horses share the roads, and it proudly hosts national baseball championships and equestrian events known as the sport of kings. Within this dynamic environment, Aiken Restaurant Group stands out as a beacon of culinary excellence, hosting a collection of privately owned businesses and restaurants including Whiskey Alley, The Red Door Sake and Kitchen, and the Downtown Alley Taproom. These establishments consistently offer diverse and exciting dining options such as pizza, tacos, sushi, wings, and more, ensuring there is something fresh and unique every day.

We are currently seeking a passionate and talented chef to join our award-winning culinary team. This is an exceptional opportunity to work alongside Chef Chad, a critically acclaimed chef with over 20 years of experience in preparing innovative and contemporary dishes. Chef Chad’s expertise and leadership have earned the team a reputation for culinary knowledge unmatched in the Aiken area. This role is perfect for someone eager to gain invaluable education and experience in fine dining while being compensated competitively. The position emphasizes growth and excellence, inviting the best and brightest cooks in town to apply for this unique opportunity to earn good money and develop their skills simultaneously.

As a chef within Aiken Restaurant Group, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the high standards of food quality and taste that define our offerings. You will be responsible for preparing all hot food items according to standard recipes or as specified on guest orders, ensuring consistent quality that satisfies our guests’ expectations. Selecting and using the finest food items for saute9ing, managing stock and sauce storage with special attention, and practicing rigorous portion control are key aspects of your responsibilities.

Additionally, keeping all refrigeration, storage, and work areas clean and compliant with Health Department regulations will be essential. Being able to read and apply Use Record Specifications - which help track ingredients and usage - is a necessary skill, along with maintaining all kitchen equipment in excellent working order. Upholding our policies of teamwork and cleanliness, including the practice of "clean as you go," will contribute to a smooth and professional kitchen environment.

The chef will also prepare requisitions for supplies, employ math skills to follow recipes accurately, and demonstrate stamina and strength required for standing for extended periods and lifting. Flexibility and a willingness to work at all kitchen stations will be important for success in this role. This position offers a chance to be part of a community-focused team that blends old-world culinary techniques with fresh, contemporary innovations, contributing to an ever-evolving specials menu that honors tradition while delighting guests with new daily offerings.
