The role of Sous Chef at Sullivan's Steakhouse is an exciting opportunity for motivated culinary professionals to join a dynamic team. This position reports to and supports the Executive Chef, stepping into leadership duties when the Executive Chef is unavailable. The Sous Chef plays a critical role in organizing kitchen operations, training staff, and managing employees which ensures the smooth running of daily culinary activities. This includes assisting with budget preparation by projecting annual food costs, labor costs, and other expenses, as well as monitoring actual financial outcomes to ensure that the restaurant meets its financial goals. The Sous Chef also has a creative role in regularly crafting unique dishes and special menu items tailored for daily features and special events. They play an essential part in accommodating guest dietary restrictions and personal preferences, enhancing the overall dining experience. This position is perfect for culinary professionals who are passionate about leadership, creativity in the kitchen, and operational excellence. The pay for this role starts at $65,000 per year, and the employment is in person at the restaurant's location. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience as a Sous Chef or similar role
  • Ability to work in person at the restaurant location
  • Availability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties

  • Assist Executive Chef when present and act on their behalf when absent in organizing, training, and employee management
  • Assist Executive Chef to prepare necessary data for budget, project annual food, labor and other costs and monitor actual financial results
  • Take corrective action as necessary to help ensure financial goals are met
  • Create unique dishes and menu items for daily features and specialty events
  • Consult with guests to meet dietary restrictions and palate preferences
