Proof of the Pudding has formed a strategic partnership with the Circuit of the Americas, a world-renowned racing and entertainment venue. In line with this collaboration, Proof of the Pudding is seeking to hire a dedicated Sous Chef. This position is pivotal within the organization, as the Sous Chef will be directly responsible for assisting with all culinary aspects of the premium hospitality and concessions programs during racing events, catering services, concerts, and other special events held at the venue. The Sous Chef role is hands-on and leadership-focused, requiring the incumbent to ensure that the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently while delivering culinary creations that surpass guest expectations.
The successful candidate will take an active managerial role during both the preparation phases and actual event days, overseeing the kitchen’s performance and helping to maximize revenue while controlling expenses. The Sous Chef will collaborate closely with the Executive Chef and culinary team to maintain high culinary standards and to foster a motivated, cohesive workforce. Responsibilities include managing staff schedules, assisting with hiring and training, overseeing purchasing and inventory, implementing sanitation and safety standards, as well as creatively developing menu items that align with Proof of the Pudding’s reputation for innovation and excellence.

The Sous Chef will be expected to lead by example, inspiring the culinary team to deliver exceptional food quality and service consistently. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience as a sous chef or similar culinary leadership role
- Knowledge of kitchen safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Capability to manage and train a diverse culinary team
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Physical stamina to work in a demanding kitchen environment
Job Qualifications
- Proven culinary experience preferably in catering or large-scale food service
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
- Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced event environments
- Experience with menu development and creative culinary techniques
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to assist in logistical planning and inventory management
Job Duties
- Be a managerial presence during and leading up to event day execution in the kitchen
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy environment by establishing, following, and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures
- Comply with legal regulations and maintain security systems
- Create and maintain the overall morale of the kitchen and culinary team
- Schedule staff and food production according to business demands, the direction of the Executive Chef, and company policies
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training of new culinary staff
- Assist Executive Chef with logistical planning and execution of events as directed
- Assist with purchasing and inventory management for all culinary operations
- Develop, implement, and communicate creative menu items that adhere to company standards
- Lead the hiring, training, accountability, and scheduling of culinary staff
- Lead and coach culinary department to develop a strong and growing team
- Perform other related duties as needed
