The company is actively seeking a full-time Sous Chef for its Intel RA4 Cafe located in Cornelius, Oregon. This position offers a competitive hourly pay range of $25.00 to $27.00, with a Monday through Friday schedule from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, allowing for a balanced work-life integration. This Sous Chef role is integral to the smooth functioning and success of the cafe's kitchen operations. The successful candidate will work closely under the Executive Chef, assisting in the preparation and cooking of meals while managing kitchen activities and leading the team of cooks and food-service associates during the Executive Chef's absence.
The Sous Chef's responsibilities include ensuring that all food is prepared according to approved recipes and production standards, maintaining quality, timely service, and adherence to food safety protocols. They supervise and support hourly food service staff by overseeing scheduling, training, payroll, and disciplinary actions as necessary, cultivating a collaborative and efficient kitchen environment. The role also entails maintaining strict sanitation and safety standards for all kitchen equipment, food storage, and preparation areas to comply with corporate and government regulations. Furthermore, the Sous Chef will manage inventory and monitor supply deliveries to minimize waste and ensure that all kitchen needs are met promptly.
Customer interaction forms an essential part of the position, with the Sous Chef expected to respond professionally and amicably to customer feedback and complaints, reinforcing the company’s commitment to service excellence. The Sous Chef is also responsible for staying informed about menu items to effectively guide and educate staff and customers.

Job Requirements

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience as a cook or in a similar culinary role
- Strong leadership skills and ability to supervise a team

- Basic math and inventory management skills
Job Duties
- Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards
- Ensures all deadlines are met based on production orders
- Supervises hourly food service associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews, and recommending disciplinary action as appropriate
- Stores food in designated areas following all corporate, state, and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
- Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures
- Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils
- Cleans workstation thoroughly before leaving area
- Keeps display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service to comply with all sanitation, safety, production, and merchandising requirements
- Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner
- Relays relevant information directly to supervisor
- Demonstrates complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explains them to associates and customers
- Keeps up with peak production and service hours
- Monitors inventory and deliveries of product and supplies
- Tracks product production, consumption, and waste
- Informs supervisor when supplies or product are low
- Performs other duties as assigned
