Sonesta Atlanta Northwest Galleria, located at 6345 Powers Ferry Rd NW in Atlanta, GA, is seeking a proactive and dedicated Sous Chef to join their team. This role is vital in setting the tone for the Sonesta Culture of Caring, aiming to create memorable experiences not just for guests, but also for team members. The Sous Chef is a leadership role focused on supervising and coordinating food preparation and kitchen production within a designated area of the hotel’s dining operations. This position requires a strategic vision along with tactical execution to manage the kitchen effectively.
The Sous Chef's primary responsibility is to execute and oversee orders from the menu while ensuring quality standards are met, including proper portioning, temperature control, and food presentation. This position requires working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with physical demands such as lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally, pushing and pulling equipment weighing up to 250 pounds, as well as frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, and standing for entire shifts. The Sous Chef must show flexibility in working variable schedules including weekends, holidays, and shifts during the day, night, or overnight. Work shifts can range from 10 to 12 hours.
Sonesta values education and experience, preferring candidates with at least a high school diploma or equivalent, with some college education or preferably a two-year degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related fields. Experience in the hotel or hospitality sector is highly regarded, especially familiarity with union environments. The Sous Chef must have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, combined with a deep knowledge of the hospitality industry and culinary trends.
This is a unique opportunity to join an expanding, globally recognized hospitality company that emphasizes career growth, team collaboration, and delivering unparalleled service. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, paid vacation, sick days, hotel discounts, and various other perks designed to support their workforce fully. The company is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace environment.
