Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Some college education preferred
  • Experience in hotel or hospitality industry preferred
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 20 pounds frequently or constantly
  • Ability to push and pull equipment up to 250 pounds
  • Ability to stand for entire shift
  • Must be flexible to work variable days including weekends and holidays
  • Must be flexible to work variable shifts including days, nights, and overnights
  • Ability to work in fast-paced and physically demanding environments

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Some college or a 2-year degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management or related field preferred
  • Experience in hotel or hospitality industry preferred
  • Knowledge of union environment is a plus
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Extensive knowledge of hotel and hospitality industry

Job Duties

  • Ensure proper portion, temperature, and presentation of food being served
  • Prepare and cook specialty dishes for banquet functions
  • Practice food safety best practices and ensure all kitchen staff follow them
  • Innovate and create new cooking products to enhance guest experiences
  • Adhere to all Sonesta safety and sanitation standards
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
  • Conduct regular inventory of food items and equipment
