The role of Sous Chef at Eurest, located at Union Pacific Headquarters in Omaha, NE, is an exciting full-time opportunity for culinary professionals with leadership skills and a passion for food preparation and kitchen management. The position follows a standard Monday through Friday schedule from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, offering a competitive hourly pay range of $19.00 to $21.00. As a Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Executive Chef to prepare and cook food according to approved recipes and production standards. Your responsibilities include supervising and coordinating the activities of cooks and food-service associates, ensuring all aspects of kitchen operations run smoothly in the absence of the Executive Chef.
You will be responsible for maintaining strict compliance with food safety and sanitation guidelines, managing inventory, monitoring food quality, and ensuring all presentation, portion control, and serving temperatures meet company standards. This role requires a hands-on approach to leadership, including interviewing, scheduling, training, payroll management, counseling, and participating in performance reviews. The Sous Chef plays a vital part in creating an excellent dining experience by interacting courteously with customers to resolve complaints and providing accurate information about menu items.

Job Duties
- Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards
- ensures all deadlines are met based on production orders
- supervises hourly food service associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews, and recommending disciplinary action as appropriate
- stores food in designated areas following all corporate, state and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
- ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures
- maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils
- cleans workstation thoroughly before leaving area
- keeps display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service
- interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner
- relays relevant information directly to supervisor
- demonstrates complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explains them to associates and customers
- keeps up with peak production and service hours
- monitors inventory and deliveries of product and supplies
- tracks product production, consumption and waste
- informs supervisor when supplies or product are low
- performs other duties as assigned
