Job Requirements
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years quantity or restaurant-style cooking experience
- ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain
- Physical capability to sit up to 4 hours, stand and walk up to 8 hours daily
- Ability to lift, transfer, push or pull up to 50 pounds
- Willingness to work weekends, evenings, and holidays
- Ability to handle exposure to various work hazards including infectious waste and disease
- Minimal travel as required
- Comply with health and safety regulations
- Meet documented performance and accountability standards
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate degree or culinary arts certification preferred
- ServSafe certification required or willingness to obtain
- Minimum two years of quantity or restaurant-style cooking experience
- At least one year of food service supervisory experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of cooking methods, food trends, quality, sanitation, and presentation
- Experience in food cost control, operational management, purchasing, inventory control, and menu planning
- Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office, and internet
- Preferred proficiency with POS and diet management software
- Effective communication and leadership skills
Job Duties
- Supervises day-to-day operations of kitchen to ensure timely and efficient meal service
- Prepares food in accordance with quality standards, sanitary regulations, and established policies and procedures
- Assists in preparation of meals following planned menus and recipe cards
- Monitors food usage and inventory
- Maintains food and supplies inventory and orders as needed
- Ensures residents' dietary needs through nutritional recipes and menu plans
- Maintains clean and safe work areas and equipment
- Plans and executes catering needs and special events
- Supervises cooking staff and fosters a positive work environment
- Conducts interviews, selections, orientations, and performance evaluations
- Provides training and developmental guidance to staff
- Handles customer service by listening and responding to residents and staff needs
- Maintains current and accurate records and documentation
- Participates in compliance and quality assurance activities
- Ensures proper shutdown of kitchen and equipment
- Shares insights for department improvement
- Attends meetings and in-service training
