With a portfolio of 28 vibrant communities spanning across 9 states and a dedicated workforce of over 8,500 team members, Acts is renowned for offering exceptional senior living experiences that blend comfort, care, and community. Each community provides residents with a comprehensive lifestyle that includes independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing care options, ensuring participants receive personalized attention tailored to their needs.

The communities are designed to foster an environment of wellness, social engagement, and convenience, featuring amenities such as casual and fine dining venues, beauty salons, fitness centers, security systems, healthcare services, and a wide array of activity programs. Acts prides itself on cultivating a culture rooted in Loving-Kindness, where diversity, inclusion, and respect for different backgrounds enhance the workplace and the living experience for residents. Employees at Acts are valued not only for their skills but also for their commitment to compassionate service and their ability to contribute to the organization's mission of enhancing the quality of life for seniors.

Acts Retirement-Life Communities is currently seeking a dedicated Sous Chef to join their culinary team, an opportunity tailored for culinary professionals passionate about food with a desire for a more balanced work schedule. This role emphasizes not only culinary excellence but also leadership and operational management within the kitchen. The Sous Chef will oversee food preparation and cooking activities across all production environments, ensuring high standards of food quality and safety are consistently maintained. This position reports directly to the Executive Chef and is pivotal in supporting day-to-day kitchen operations.

Key responsibilities include supervising food production and sanitation staff, assisting with hiring and training of new kitchen personnel, and stepping in to fulfill the Executive Chef's duties in their absence. The Sous Chef will be responsible for kitchen opening and closing, inventory management, developing par sheets, and placing food and supplies orders. This role provides a vital bridge between the culinary team and management, facilitating effective communication and operational efficiency.

Acts offers competitive compensation and is proud to provide next-day pay through its PayActiv benefit, which allows employees to receive their earnings promptly after working. Additionally, the organization is deeply committed to the professional and personal growth of its team members, offering extensive benefits such as tuition reimbursement, commuter benefits, scholarship awards, professional development programs, and partnerships with universities. The work environment promotes wellness initiatives, appreciation events, and referral and discount programs, making it a supportive and rewarding place to advance a culinary career.

Ideal candidates will bring at least four years of progressive culinary experience in full-service restaurants, catering, healthcare, country club or hotel settings, or on cruise lines. Experience in all cooking stations and methods is essential, and ServeSafe Certification is preferred. Acts values team members who are motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to a collaborative and respectful kitchen culture. The organization's inclusive hiring practice ensures equal opportunity for all applicants, with reasonable accommodations available during the hiring process, affirming Acts’ commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
