Job Description

Meriwether Godsey is a renowned hospitality management company known for providing premier culinary and hospitality services across various sectors, including contract dining, catering, campus dining, and senior living communities. Based in Pennsylvania, Meriwether Godsey has earned a reputation for delivering exceptional foodservice experiences with a strong emphasis on quality, sustainability, and community values. They are employee-owned, fostering a small, community-focused work environment where collaboration, growth, and leadership development are central to their culture. The company is committed to setting high standards for hospitality in the Pennsylvania market and embraces diversity, inclusion, and equity in the workplace, making it a welcoming employer for all individuals.

The role of Sous Chef at Meriwether Godsey is an exciting opportunity located at a premier Catholic Seminary in scenic Ambler, PA. This full-time position operates on a dedicated Sunday through Thursday shift, offering employees free meals during their work hours. As a Sous Chef, you will play a vital role in the culinary team, contributing your expert skills to prepare fabulous meals using traditional, made-from-scratch preparation methods. This position requires a high level of quality control and timeliness in food production, utilizing batch-cooking methods to ensure freshness and consistency. You will assist the head Chef in all aspects of food production, working collaboratively with the kitchen team to incorporate key ingredients into daily menu offerings.

Your leadership will extend to training kitchen staff in accordance with company recipes and policies, as well as conducting training sessions and in-services to ensure all team members maintain the highest standards. Additionally, you will oversee food safety and sanitation standards, including adherence to HACCP guidelines, managing food and product ordering, and driving sustainability initiatives to reduce waste and manage budget concerns effectively. Supervising food preparation and presentation to meet restaurant-quality standards will also be a key responsibility. The role involves guiding kitchen personnel in safe operating procedures for equipment and utensils and leading daily pre-production and service meetings to ensure smooth kitchen operations.

This role occasionally requires stepping in for the Chef when necessary, handling purchasing and ordering, and taking on team production and quality assurance responsibilities as needed. Meriwether Godsey values professionalism, strong leadership skills, and excellent communication abilities in this role. The ideal candidate will benefit from a competitive pay package, uniforms, training, mentorship, and a comprehensive benefits program including health, vision, and dental coverage. Joining Meriwether Godsey means becoming part of a fast-paced, team-oriented, high-energy environment where passion for serving others and dedication to quality hospitality are deeply ingrained. This is an excellent opportunity for culinary professionals looking to grow their careers in a supportive, value-driven company committed to excellence and community.
