Job Description

Gallaher Signature Living is a distinguished provider in the senior living industry, dedicated to redefining what it means to age well. With a deep-rooted legacy of compassion, elegance, and excellence, Gallaher Signature Living operates boutique active adult living communities throughout California. Their mission is to offer not just traditional senior living solutions but personalized experiences that enrich daily life and foster meaningful connections among residents. The communities they manage provide a variety of services including Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care, all set within thoughtfully designed environments that prioritize the dignity and quality of life of their residents. Gallaher Signature Living prides itself on creating a culture that supports and empowers forward-thinking professionals who are passionate about enhancing the future of senior living through exceptional care and hospitality.

The role of Sous Chef at Gallaher Signature Living is vital within this ecosystem as it directly contributes to the delivery of a refined, restaurant-quality dining experience in these active adult living communities. The position demands a culinary professional who is committed to upholding the company’s mission and values by ensuring high-quality meal preparation and service that align with approved menus, resident dietary preferences, and all regulatory requirements, including compliance with California Title 22. This includes maintaining strict adherence to food safety, sanitation standards, and resident well-being guidelines. The Sous Chef will contribute to menu execution that delights residents, families, and guests through exceptional food quality, presentation, and taste. Responsibilities also encompass assisting with special events, private functions, and community celebrations, ensuring each culinary offering is nutritionally appropriate and meets the unique needs of the senior population.

The Sous Chef will engage directly with residents to understand their food preferences and dietary restrictions, thus enhancing the personalized dining experience. They are also tasked with enforcing food-handling best practices and managing kitchen hygiene and organization. Beyond food preparation, the position includes operational duties such as purchasing, inventory control, and training culinary staff, fostering a professional team environment that champions hospitality and collaboration. Effective communication with community leadership and various stakeholders is critical, alongside a demonstrated ability to address resident concerns with empathy and professionalism.

Further, the role requires flexibility in scheduling to accommodate evenings, weekends, holidays, and additional shifts as needed, reflecting the dynamic nature of the senior living environment. The Sous Chef supports community marketing efforts by positively engaging with prospective residents and their families during tours and interactions.
