We are currently hiring for a full-time Sous Chef position to join our dedicated team at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford. This role is vital in maintaining high standards in the kitchen, supporting the Executive Chef, and managing food service operations efficiently. The Sous Chef will be responsible for preparing and cooking food according to approved recipes and set production standards, ensuring timely completion of food orders, supervising the kitchen staff, and maintaining a sanitary and safe working environment. The position requires prior experience in restaurant operations, hotel, corporate dining, or food and beverage operations to successfully contribute to the culinary team. This full-time role offers a competitive pay range of $25.00 to $27.00 per hour, with a rotating schedule typically from 5:00 am to 1:00 pm, including weekends and holidays.

As a key leader in the kitchen, the Sous Chef will take charge in the Executive Chef's absence, overseeing food preparation, staffing decisions, and quality control. Job Duties

  • Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards
  • ensures all deadlines are met based on production orders
  • supervises hourly food service associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, and recommending disciplinary action
  • stores food in designated areas following all corporate, state and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
  • ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures
  • maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils
  • cleans workstation thoroughly before leaving area
  • keeps display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service
  • interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner
  • relays relevant information directly to supervisor
  • demonstrates complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explains them to associates and customers
  • monitors inventory and deliveries of product and supplies
  • tracks product production, consumption and waste
  • informs supervisor when supplies or product are low
  • performs other duties as assigned
