Job Description

Touchmark in the West Hills is a distinguished living community located just three miles from downtown Portland, set on 14 beautiful forested acres. This premier establishment offers a diverse range of 335 residences including single-family homes, garden homes, independent apartment homes, as well as licensed care homes. Designed with the comfort and well-being of its residents in mind, Touchmark combines luxury with a welcoming atmosphere to foster a vibrant and fulfilling lifestyle for older adults. The campus is rich with amenities that include five distinct restaurants, scenic walking trails, productive vineyards and an on-site winery famous for producing pinot noir, peaceful courtyards and plazas, pickleball courts, garden plots with a greenhouse, and a sprawling 40,000-square-foot clubhouse and health and fitness center. Additionally, the rooftop terrace provides a serene setting perfect for social gatherings and relaxation.

Working at Touchmark presents a unique opportunity to be part of an organization grounded in the core values represented by the acronym ETHIC - Excellence, Teamwork, Hospitality, Integrity, and Compassion. These principles guide every interaction and task, from daily personal caregiving to maintaining the grounds. The community promotes a culture where employees are recognized as allies, friends, and givers, fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace environment. The role available offers a full-time position with a competitive wage ranging from $28 to $31 per hour without the demand for late-night shifts, which supports a healthy work/life balance for all team members.

The ideal candidate for this position will be deeply committed to upholding Touchmark's values of hospitality, compassion, excellence, teamwork, and integrity. They should inspire these values in themselves and in their colleagues, contributing positively to the community ambiance. Educationally, the candidate is expected to have a high school diploma or equivalent, although a degree in culinary arts is preferred but not mandatory. Professionally, 3 to 5 years of experience working on a progressive line is required, including at least one year in a supervisory role. Experience as a Chef de Partie or Chef de Cuisine, along with catering production experience, would be advantageous. Physically, the candidate must be capable of lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds and remain on their feet for extended periods. They should have the resilience to maintain a positive and professional demeanor when engaging with residents, family members, visitors, and team members, and have flexibility to work nights and weekends.

Joining the Touchmark team means becoming part of a community that prioritizes both the care of its residents and the well-being of its employees. The organization offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid time off (including holidays), health, dental, and vision insurance plans for employees and eligible dependents, education assistance, bonus and retirement plans, and flexible spending accounts for health care, dependent care, and commuting expenses. Additional benefits include on-demand pay for accessing earnings as they are made, an employee assistance program, and supplemental insurance options. Those who share the passion for safety, compassion, and empathy, and who wish to contribute to a meaningful mission, are highly encouraged to apply and to learn more by visiting Touchmark's website.
