Job Description

We are currently seeking a dedicated Sous Chef to join the Rusty Bucket Restaurant and Tavern team. In this role, you will be pivotal in ensuring that every meal served meets the highest standards of nutrition, safety, presentation, and flavor. The Sous Chef is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary kitchen environment, while also handling key administrative duties such as menu planning, budgeting, payroll management, and food cost control. Your leadership will be essential in establishing quality standards for food preparation, training kitchen associates in cooking techniques, portion control, and ensuring nutrient retention. As a vital part of the team, you will embody the company’s values by fostering a positive and supportive atmosphere among associates, guests, suppliers, partners, and the wider community.

The role requires a genuine approach to hospitality, with an emphasis on leadership, kindness, positivity, and teamwork. Our Sous Chef must demonstrate confidence and professionalism while upholding the Rusty Bucket culture. Responsibilities include managing kitchen operations in line with health and safety regulations, protecting company financial assets, controlling costs, maximizing revenue, and ensuring compliance with all employment, food handling, and alcohol service laws. You will directly supervise all Heart of House associates, playing a crucial role in hiring, training, work assignment, performance appraisal, and conflict resolution. This position is full-time with a competitive annual salary ranging from $60,000 to $65,000, and a strong culture of support and development for all team members. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years culinary experience
  • Knowledge of food safety protocols
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to lead a team
  • Positive attitude and genuine approach to hospitality
