Job Description

Established on the belief that humanity's future lies among the stars, SpaceX actively develops cutting-edge technologies to enable human exploration and settlement on Mars. Renowned for innovation, resilience, and a daring approach to defying the impossible, SpaceX continuously pushes the boundaries of space technology, providing a dynamic and inspirational environment for its team members.

This particular opportunity at SpaceX is for a Sous Chef, a fundamental role designed to support the culinary needs of the company’s workforce and special events. The Sous Chef will play an integral part in managing daily kitchen operations with a focus on cost control, quality assurance, and creating vibrant, innovative menus. This role emphasizes sourcing high-quality, sustainable, locally-sourced ingredients and planning menus that highlight seasonality and creativity. The Sous Chef is tasked with maintaining the highest standards in food quality and safety, overseeing inventory management, and ensuring a seamless culinary experience for SpaceX employees.

Beyond day-to-day kitchen responsibilities, the Sous Chef also contributes to building a positive, engaging environment in the company’s cafés, fostering a culture where employees are encouraged to meet, share meals, and collaborate. Additionally, the role includes catering responsibilities for company events, requiring coordination and execution of menus that satisfy diverse tastes and dietary requirements.

The ideal candidate for this role will have substantial experience in sous chef or culinary management positions, demonstrating skills in high-volume food production, catering, and innovative menu creation. This position demands excellent communication skills and an ability to thrive under pressure, all while maintaining a creative culinary spirit that aligns with SpaceX’s pioneering culture.

Candidates must also comply with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) requirements, as SpaceX operates under specific U.S. government export controls. Employment is governed by merit, competence, and qualifications, reflecting SpaceX’s commitment to equal opportunity and diversity in its workforce.

This is a full-time opportunity that offers the unique chance to contribute to a forward-thinking aerospace company while indulging your passion for culinary arts in an inspiring, collaborative setting.
