The role available is for a Sous Chef at a large senior living community in Helena Pointe. This opportunity offers employment that values people and fosters a supportive work environment. As the Sous Chef, you will be second in command in the kitchen, responsible for enforcing the executive chef's standards and providing culinary leadership. This position requires creativity and dedication to developing seasonal menus and meal designs that meet both senior residents' nutritional needs and preference for delicious food.

The Sous Chef will work Sunday through Thursday from 6am to 2:30pm, having Fridays and Saturdays off, making it an appealing work-life balance opportunity. The role includes responsibilities such as developing new menus based on seasonal and resident demands, assisting in meal preparation, ensuring timely kitchen operations, monitoring inventory and ordering supplies, and supporting junior kitchen staff. Recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance evaluation of kitchen employees are also core responsibilities.

Candidates must have at least two years of experience, a strong understanding of cooking methods and kitchen equipment, familiarity with MS Office and restaurant software, and exceptional leadership and teamwork skills. Safe food handling practices are mandatory, and the ability to work flexible shifts is required. Preferred qualifications include experience or knowledge of special diets and catering for large groups.

Job Duties

  • Develop new menu options based on seasonal changes and customer demand
  • assist with the preparation and planning of meal designs
  • ensure that kitchen activities operate in a timely manner

  • provide support to junior kitchen employees including line cooking, food preparation, and dish plating
  • recruit and train new kitchen employees to meet kitchen standards
