The Sous Chef position at Andaz Napa is a critical role within the culinary team, offering a competitive hourly rate of $29.00. In this role, the Sous Chef supports senior leadership by taking on basic management tasks and acts as a vital liaison between all culinary and hotel departments. The position demands a diverse skill set, including supervising food preparation, developing innovative menu items that align with brand standards, and planning special events and holiday functions. Leadership responsibilities extend to managing hourly kitchen employees through scheduling, payroll management, training, coaching, evaluations, and hiring. The Sous Chef may also oversee other culinary leadership roles, such as supervisors and junior Sous Chefs, fostering a collaborative and driven team environment.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Several years of experience in a professional kitchen environment
- Experience in a supervisory or leadership culinary role
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and kitchen sanitation protocols
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure
Job Qualifications
- Proven experience in a Sous Chef or similar culinary leadership role
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Ability to develop creative and appealing menus
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Experience in managing kitchen operations and staff scheduling
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Culinary arts degree or equivalent professional certification preferred
Job Duties
- Support senior leadership by developing and assuming basic management responsibilities
- Assume the role of liaison between all departments within the culinary division and all other hotel departments
- Supervise the preparation and cooking of various food items
- Develop and implement creative menu items that adhere to Hyatt brand standards
- Plan, coordinate and implement special events and holiday functions
- Manage hourly kitchen employees through scheduling, payroll, training, coaching, evaluating and hiring
- May manage other key culinary leadership roles including supervisor and other less senior Sous Chefs
- Lead and coach the team towards achieving exceptional guest service and employee satisfaction results
- Monitor food production, ordering, cost, and quality and consistency on a daily basis
- Ensure proper safety and sanitation of all kitchen facilities and equipment
