The Sous Chef at Sullivans Steakhouse plays a vital role in the kitchen, acting as a key support to the Executive Chef. This position involves assisting in the organization, training, and management of kitchen employees, ensuring that operational standards are maintained at the highest level. The Sous Chef undertakes a range of supervisory responsibilities, stepping in to lead the kitchen when the Executive Chef is absent. Additionally, the role requires close involvement in budgeting processes, including projecting annual food and labor costs, monitoring financial outcomes, and implementing corrective actions to meet budgetary goals. Creativity is an essential part of this role, as the Sous Chef is regularly expected to develop unique dishes and menu items for daily features and specialty events. Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • assists Executive Chef when Executive Chef is present and acts on behalf of Executive Chef when Executive Chef is absent in matters of organizing training and employee management
  • assist Executive Chef to prepare necessary data for applicable parts of the budget
  • projects annual food labor and other costs and monitors actual financial results
  • takes corrective action to help assure that financial goals are met
  • regularly creates unique dishes and menu items for daily features and specialty events
  • consults with guests to meet dietary restrictions and palate preferences
