The role of Sous Chef is critical in maintaining the quality and efficiency of our food service. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the kitchen staff, including line cooks, production cooks, buffet attendants, and stewards, ensuring that all culinary operations run smoothly and meet the company’s high standards. This position requires a passionate culinary professional who can manage multiple tasks under pressure, maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, and deliver exceptional dishes that satisfy both our restaurant guests and banquet clients. The Sous Chef will play a vital role in training and mentoring all hourly associates, promoting a positive and productive work atmosphere. This role also involves collaboration with the culinary management team to oversee product care and vendor relations, as well as contributing creatively by developing unique plating designs and special occasion menus.
This Full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $55,000 to $60,000 per year. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- previous culinary experience preferred
- ability to work long hours, weekends, evenings and holidays
- strong understanding of food safety and sanitation
- effective verbal and written communication skills
- basic knowledge of kitchen equipment operation and maintenance
- ability to manage and mentor kitchen staff
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED a plus but not required
- previous experience a plus
- must be able to work long hours, weekends, evenings and holidays
- must have a high standard of cleanliness and understanding of food safety practices
- must be clear and concise with verbal and written communication including emails
- must understand all kitchen equipment and communicate issues with the engineering department
Job Duties
- Sets up and execute hot food for restaurant
- sets up and execute breakfast hot food for banquet events
- responsible for managing all line cooks, production cooks, breakfast buffet attendants and stewards
- responsible for training and mentoring all hourly associates
- addressing all kitchen-related problems and incidences in a timely and effective manner
- completes all opening, daily, and weekly checklists when necessary
- understands state health codes and follows all company standard operating procedures
