The role of Sous Chef at The Country Club is a pivotal leadership position within the culinary team. This role reports directly to the Restaurant Chef, Executive Sous Chef, or Banquet Chef and is a full-time year-round, benefit-eligible position classified as non-exempt with hourly compensation ranging from $24 to $30 per hour. The Sous Chef functions as a key operational leader responsible for executing culinary standards, efficiently supporting daily kitchen operations, and mentoring the culinary team across all assigned outlets. This role demands flexibility and adaptability to support multiple culinary concepts, various service styles, and varying volumes while maintaining consistent quality and discipline across operations.

The Sous Chef's primary responsibilities include executing menus, managing recipes, and ensuring plating standards are consistent to uphold the club's esteemed reputation for quality. The individual must lead by example during service periods, maintaining calmness and control to guarantee smooth kitchen operations. Supporting menu rollouts, special culinary events, tastings, and innovative initiatives is also crucial to the role. Daily tasks involve assisting with production planning, monitoring station setup and cleanliness, and ensuring smooth prep execution and service flow.

Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3 years in a professional kitchen environment preferred
  • ability to prepare, cook and taste food items to ensure quality and consistency
  • strong knife skills
  • availability to work flexible shifts including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and special events
  • knowledge of operating kitchen equipment such as mixers, combi ovens, steamers, robot coups, and fryers
  • SERV Safe Certification preferred
  • Certificate of Allergen Awareness Training preferred
  • First Aid certification preferred
  • ability to stand for 8-10 hours
  • ability to kneel, bend over and stand up multiple times during a shift
  • ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • must wear black work shoes with non-slip soles

Job Qualifications

  • 2-3 years in a professional kitchen environment preferred
  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • demonstrate the ability to prepare, cook and taste food items to ensure quality and consistency
  • display strong knife skills and understanding of basic culinary arts
  • standard shift schedules are 6:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M. or 2:00 P.M. - 10:00 P.M.
  • be flexible and available to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and special events
  • demonstrate understanding of how to operate common kitchen equipment, including but not limited to mixers, combi ovens, steamers, robot coups, and fryers
  • SERV Safe Certified, Certificate of Allergen Awareness Training, and First Aid preferred

Job Duties
