Job Requirements

  • Possess or obtain SERV Safe certification
  • Minimum 1 year cooking experience
  • Valid California driver’s license
  • Access to insured automobile
  • Ability to lift frequently up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work Monday to Friday day shifts
  • Proof of current immunizations including COVID-19, Measles, Pertussis, Influenza and TB clearance
  • Health clearance by a physician
  • Ability to adhere to health and safety guidelines for food preparation
  • Appropriate professional kitchen attire including non-open toe shoes
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors
  • Demonstrated ability to work respectfully with children and staff
  • Willingness to participate in staff development days and NBCC events

Job Qualifications

  • Hold or have the ability to obtain SERV Safe certification
  • At least 1 year of cooking experience
  • Ability to assist in preparation and service of all meals and snacks in accordance with CACFP regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrated proficiency in food preparation skills and techniques
  • Understanding of general nutrition and CACFP meal patterns
  • Ability to maintain kitchen in an organized, clean and sanitary manner
  • Possess valid California driver’s license and insured automobile
  • Ability to work as a team member with respect, trust and professionalism
  • Adherence to NBCC policies and procedures
  • Ability to participate in professional development sessions

Job Duties

  • Maintain sanitary standards and practices for the kitchen daily
  • Assist Kitchen Chef/Manager with general food preparation
  • Deliver and pick-up food to and from classrooms
  • Clean, wash and sanitize classroom dishes
  • Fill food and general kitchen work orders and maintain supplies for classrooms
  • General cleaning, sanitizing and upkeep of kitchen, appliances and utensils
  • Occasionally prepare food in the absence of the Kitchen Chef/Manager
