The role of Sous Chef at The Orchard Social is a rare and exciting opportunity inviting culinary professionals to be part of an innovative concept launch. This position is designed for individuals passionate about driving creativity while maintaining consistency and quality in a high-performance kitchen. Reporting directly to the Executive Chef, the Sous Chef plays a crucial leadership role, guiding the culinary team through the opening phase and beyond. Responsibilities include supporting daily kitchen operations, ensuring adherence to menu standards, and assisting in the development of seasonal, globally inspired offerings. The Sous Chef also leads, trains, and mentors team members to uphold culinary and operational excellence. The role demands a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced environment and values both precision and collaboration. This position offers a competitive compensation package ranging from $45,000 to $55,000 annually, based on experience.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of culinary experience
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience
  • ServSafe certification
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Strong communication and delegation skills
  • Availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of culinary experience, with progressively increasing responsibilities
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of global cuisines and American regional cooking
  • Proven ability to consistently execute recipes and deliver high-level plating during service
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to delegate, communicate clearly, and support team success
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Passion for hospitality, quality, and continuous improvement
  • ServSafe certification required

Job Duties

  • Support the Executive Chef in all aspects of daily kitchen operations
  • Execute menu items with consistency, precision, and strong plate presentation standards
  • Consistently prepare menu items using standardized recipes to ensure quality and cost control
  • Assist in the development and refinement of seasonal, globally inspired menu offerings
  • Lead, train, and mentor kitchen team members to uphold culinary and operational standards
  • Delegate tasks effectively while maintaining accountability across the team
  • Recognize when to step in and when to ask for support to ensure smooth service execution
  • Assist with preparation and execution of golf outings, banquets, and special events
  • Maintain strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and HACCP protocols
  • Assist with ordering, receiving, inventory control, and cost management
  • Step confidently into a leadership role in the absence of the Executive Chef
  • Collaborate with front-of-house leadership to deliver a seamless and memorable guest experience
