The Sous Chef position is a hands-on culinary leadership role, critical to the day-to-day operations of the retail food venues. Working closely with the Executive Chef, the Sous Chef helps execute menus, promotions, and recipes that uphold Sodexo and Kaiser Permanente’s high standards. This role requires a motivated and experienced culinary professional who thrives in high-volume settings and is passionate about delivering fresh, flavorful food with efficiency and consistency.

The Sous Chef is accountable for maintaining rigorous food safety and sanitation compliance, vital in a healthcare-related food environment. They also lead and develop the culinary team, ensuring peak performance during busy meal periods. Additionally, the position involves responsibilities such as ordering and inventory control, food cost management, and waste reduction, supporting overall operational efficiency.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum education requirement - high school diploma GED or equivalent experience
  • Previous Sous Chef or culinary leadership experience in retail restaurant or high-volume food service operations
  • Strong knowledge of food safety sanitation and operational compliance standards
  • Hands-on leadership style with the ability to coach motivate and develop teams
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail setting while maintaining quality and consistency
  • A customer-focused mindset with a passion for fresh flavorful food and operational excellence

  • Support day-to-day culinary operations for retail food venues ensuring consistent quality speed of service and customer satisfaction

  • Maintain strict food safety sanitation and infection control compliance in a high-visibility retail environment
  • Lead train and supervise culinary staff to ensure efficient execution during peak meal periods
  • Assist with ordering inventory control food cost management and waste reduction
