The Sous Chef role at Avery Point plays a pivotal part in delivering exceptional culinary experiences through their innovative Signature Dining Programs. These programs are known for a la minute cooking and chef-inspired creations, designed to delight residents with fresh, high-quality meals made in state-of-the-art kitchens utilizing the latest equipment and culinary techniques. The Sous Chef will be a key leader in the culinary team, collaborating closely with fellow chefs and kitchen staff to maintain excellent food standards and timely service. This full-time position offers a competitive salary ranging from $60,000 to $65,000 annually, commensurate with experience, along with comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k) plans with company matching. In this role, you will supervise scheduling, training, and discipline of culinary and utility staff, stepping in for the Executive Chef when necessary to manage kitchen operations, including staffing, food production, utility oversight, and sanitation. The Sous Chef will monitor daily kitchen workflows, ensuring meals for residents are prepared and served promptly, adhering strictly to recipes, food safety protocols, food quality standards, and dietary restrictions. Additionally, this role includes managing the organization and cleanliness of the dining rooms, kitchen, storage areas, and loading docks to uphold the highest standards of hygiene and operational efficiency.

Job Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years full-service experience
- Minimum of 6 months supervisory and coaching experience
- Availability to work some weekends and holidays
- Ability to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures, including hot kitchen to refrigerators and freezers
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years full-service culinary experience
- Minimum of 6 months supervisory and coaching experience
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen sanitation standards
- Ability to work well within a team environment
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Culinary degree or relevant certification preferred but not required
Job Duties
- Supervises the scheduling, training, and discipline of all culinary and utility staff
- Oversees all culinary functions in the Chef's absence, including staffing, food production, utility management, and kitchen sanitation
- Manages daily kitchen production and food preparation to ensure timely service of resident meals
- Directs the preparation and service of all menu items, including adherence to recipes, proper food handling, food safety, quality, dietary restrictions, and production forecasts
- Oversees the organization and sanitation of dining rooms, kitchen, storage areas, and loading dock
