Established as a staple in several vibrant Chicago neighborhoods including River North, Lincoln Park, Fulton Market, and Streeterville, RAMEN-SAN has earned a loyal customer base thanks to its unique blend of Japanese-inspired comfort food and welcoming local vibe. As a part of Lettuce Entertain You Restaurants, a respected culinary-driven company known for its commitment to exceptional dining experiences and people-focused culture, RAMEN-SAN upholds a tradition of quality, camaraderie, and innovative cuisine.
The restaurant operates every day of the week, covering lunch, dinner, and late-night service, making it a dynamic workplace that thrives on energy, precision, and teamwork. RAMEN-SAN's ethos centers on crafting authentic dining experiences through its ramen offerings while fostering a fun and inclusive environment where employees can grow and thrive.
We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Sous Chef to join our energetic kitchen team. This pivotal role requires a professional with at least two years of sous chef experience, someone ready to command the back-of-house operations with confidence and culinary expertise. As Sous Chef, you will be responsible for managing kitchen activities to ensure smooth operation, supervision of kitchen staff, and maintaining the high standards of food quality and safety the brand is known for.
This full-time position offers an attractive salary range of USD $55,000 to $75,000 per year, reflecting the responsibilities and expertise expected. In addition to the financial package, the position includes comprehensive benefits such as quarterly bonuses, paid time off including holidays, personal days, and vacation, a 401(k) plan, medical, dental, and vision insurance, life and accident insurance, as well as access to mental health and wellness programs. Employee discounts and partner benefits further enhance the employment experience.
The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate excellent leadership skills, ensuring every shift is effectively managed. Collaboration with the General Manager and other team members is key to sustaining the quality of our cuisine and the efficiency of our kitchen operations. Regular reviews, staff training, and communication between kitchen and front-of-house are critical components of this role. The Sous Chef must also be adaptable, prepared to work varied schedules including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and occasionally travel between locations.
Working at RAMEN-SAN means joining a company recognized for its culture of caring and continuous learning. The opportunity for career growth and professional development is supported through ongoing training and leadership development initiatives. By becoming part of the RAMEN-SAN and Lettuce Entertain You family, you step into a role that offers both challenge and reward in equal measure, with the chance to contribute to a growing and admired brand in the Chicago restaurant scene.
