As the largest employee-owned resource recovery company in the industry, Recology boasts a supportive workplace culture that values community, diversity, accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning. Its mission is driven by the 4R's philosophy: Reduce, Re-use, Recycle, and Recologize, showcasing the company’s commitment to using and returning resources to their best and highest use. This approach establishes Recology as a key player in environmental conservation and resource efficiency, which creates distinct professional opportunities for employees who want to make a positive impact while contributing to a waste-free world. Recology provides a full-time, regular employment opportunity with competitive benefits designed to help employees thrive professionally and personally.

The role of Sorter at Recology is an excellent entry-level position ideal for individuals who meet the knowledge criteria but may not have prior experience in the field. This position involves sorting a wide range of reusable waste materials intended for recycling, strictly adhering to established standards and procedures. Under close supervision, Sorters effectively separate contaminated or non-recyclable materials from recyclable ones to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies. In addition to sorting, employees are expected to empty or change containers of sorted materials and report any hazardous materials discovered during sorting according to company protocols.

This role requires individuals who can work under pressure and maintain productivity while following safety rules and operational instructions meticulously. The company encourages the ability to communicate clearly with supervisors, peers, and customers, including operating two-way radios or similar devices as needed. Sorters are integral to promoting Recology’s Waste Zero philosophy by maximizing resource utilization. Physical stamina is essential as the role requires lifting up to 25 pounds. The Sorter position not only helps protect the environment but also offers professional growth opportunities within a company that prizes a caring and community-driven culture.
