Job Description

Recology is currently seeking a Sorter to join their team on a regular full-time basis. This role operates Monday through Friday from 4am to 12:30pm, primarily focused on the proper sorting of recyclable materials. Under close supervision, the Sorter will handle a variety of reusable waste materials ensuring that items designated for recycling are correctly separated from non-recyclable waste. This role is critical to maintaining the quality and efficiency of the recycling process, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred

Job Duties

  • Sorts mixed recyclable materials by type and from waste materials in compliance with laws, regulations and policies
  • Identifies and distinguishes recyclables (paper, glass, etc.) from non-recyclables (garbage, etc.)
  • Sorts through materials on a conveyor to view and recognize type, and opens bags to inspect contents
  • Empties and/or changes sorted materials containers as needed
  • Maintains a safe work area
  • Reports and takes appropriate action regarding any hazardous materials in the waste stream as per company policies and training
  • Abides by company policies and procedures and state and local regulations
  • Performs other duties as assigned
