This position is onsite at the FedEx facility located at 6648 S Perimeter Road, Indianapolis, IN 46241, and requires the technician to be physically present four days a week.

This particular role is for a Sort Systems Technician, a critical maintenance position focused on the upkeep and repair of FedEx’s package sorting and container handling equipment. The technician will be responsible for maintaining all electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems in strict accordance with established FedEx maintenance procedures. Working in this role requires a solid background in technical maintenance, particularly with commercial or industrial maintenance expertise related to materials handling systems. The position demands a high level of physical fitness and safety awareness, as it involves lifting heavy components, climbing, and accessing equipment at various heights. The technician will work primarily on the second shift, from 10:00 AM to 8:30 PM, Sunday through Wednesday or Wednesday through Saturday, including the willingness to work overtime, holidays, and rotating shifts as needed. Compensation for this full-time role ranges from $28.62 per hour for a technician to $33.00 per hour for senior technicians, reflecting varying levels of experience and expertise.

The duties of the role include repairing and maintaining multiple equipment systems to ensure seamless package sorting operations, completing maintenance tasks promptly and accurately, and updating the status of work orders efficiently. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or ged
  • four years experience with 24 months as fedex sort systems technician or maintenance on similar equipment
  • good working knowledge of maintenance tools, equipment and procedures
  • ability to lift 50 lbs and maneuver heavy components with equipment and assistance
  • good interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • ability to access equipment by crawling, laying, standing and climbing at all heights
  • willingness to work odd work weeks, overtime, holidays and rotating shifts
  • valid driver’s license
  • ability to work safely with constant alertness

Job Qualifications
