Job Description

SoPo Coffee is a specialty coffee roaster and café dedicated to serving premium coffee while fostering a passion for coffee knowledge and quality. Known for its commitment to excellence in every cup, SoPo Coffee operates both a café and roasting facility, emphasizing a blend of exceptional customer service, high-quality coffee beverages, and expert coffee roasting and equipment maintenance. The establishment prides itself on not just delivering coffee but creating an experience that is rooted in education, innovation, and community engagement. This company combines hands-on training with a collaborative environment to cultivate coffee professionals who are dedicated to both the craft and the customer experience. The team at SoPo values consistency, attention to detail, and continuous learning as the foundation of their success. The Apprentice Roaster & Equipment Technician position at SoPo Coffee is a unique opportunity for a developing coffee professional to bridge the gap between barista and roaster roles. This hybrid position supports the roasting operations, equipment maintenance, and daily café tasks, playing an integral part in the production process and customer service flow. It offers hands-on training in specialty coffee roasting, equipment repair, quality control, and inventory management. As an Apprentice Roaster & Equipment Technician, you will assist in production roasting, packaging, and wholesale fulfillment, keeping the roasting process consistent and efficient. The role also involves preventative maintenance tasks, troubleshooting, and repair of coffee equipment to ensure all machinery operates smoothly. On the café floor, you will engage in beverage preparation, offer excellent customer service, maintain clean and organized workstations, and support food preparation to enhance the overall customer experience. Training is a key component of this role, covering coffee roasting fundamentals, roast profiling, green coffee evaluation, sensory cupping, brewing science, and equipment repair. This position serves as a foundation for future leadership within SoPo Coffee's production and operations teams, emphasizing professional growth and development. Candidates can expect to spend about 20–30 percent of scheduled hours on front-of-house café duties, making this an excellent role for those who enjoy both customer interaction and the technical side of coffee production. The Apprentice Roaster & Equipment Technician at SoPo Coffee embodies the values of being a learner and problem solver, with an unwavering dedication to consistency, quality, and reliability in every cup served, reflecting the company’s standards and serving its community with excellence.
