The Sonoma Social Club Sous Chef position offers an exciting opportunity to be a pivotal part of the resort's culinary leadership team. This full-time, salaried role carries an annual pay rate of $80,000 and is tailored for a dedicated culinary professional passionate about high-volume kitchen operations and fine dining standards. The Sous Chef is tasked with steering kitchen operations every single day, delivering consistent food quality and presentation that aligns perfectly with the resort's brand. Job Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests, team members and management in both written and verbal form
  • Minimum of five years of culinary experience in related fields
  • At least two years of restaurant management experience in a similar cuisine and/or volume with P&L management responsibility
  • Ability to work in all aspects of high volume kitchen operations including breakfast, lunch, and dinner services
  • Proficiency in fine dining cooking techniques such as butchering, baking, soups, stocks, sauces, roasting, sautéing, broiling, grilling, and cold food production
  • Strong communication skills with guests, team members and management
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must possess or obtain California Food Handler Certification
  • Must be 21 years of age or older

Job Duties

  • Redefine hospitality at Graton Resort & Casino by supporting and promoting company values
  • Perform responsibilities in accordance with company standards, policies, and procedures
  • Oversee daily kitchen operations, managing food production, team coordination, and service efficiency
  • Direct, mentor, and support kitchen staff ensuring adherence to food preparation standards
  • Develop and execute recipes that align with the brand and guest expectations
  • Ensure food quality and consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control
  • Manage production schedules by coordinating preparation for upcoming events
  • Maintain inventory and control costs through stock management and budget participation
  • Execute leadership directives and align with organizational goals
  • Enforce safety and sanitation standards following Department of Health, OSHA, and company regulations
  • Schedule and assign tasks efficiently to optimize staffing and labor costs
  • Uphold department policies and foster a positive, productive work environment
  • Manage performance through feedback, coaching, and corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate team member records including attendance and payroll
