Established with a fundamental purpose to act as a catalyst in turning visionary ideas into reality, FAENA creates meticulously curated spaces that combine cultural sophistication with excellence in service. This unique atmosphere is crafted to delight the most discerning and sophisticated guests, allowing them to experience the full essence of the FAENA Culture. The movement embodies a lifestyle that goes beyond hospitality, incorporating elements of art, culture, and community engagement to foster a dynamic and immersive guest experience.
Following its successful presences in Buenos Aires and Miami Beach, Faena New York brings this celebrated culture to the heart of Manhattan at 500 West 18th Street with a breathtaking view of the iconic High Line. Designed by the renowned Bjarke Ingels Group, this landmark location symbolizes sophistication, glamour, and cutting-edge cultural innovation. The opening of Faena New York represents the resurgence of luxury nightlife in the city, featuring an array of dynamic food and beverage venues complemented by exclusive programming designed to attract and enchant the sophisticated traveler. The venue promises to be the ultimate destination for those seeking outstanding luxury hospitality and nightlife, integrating world-class culinary experiences with a carefully designed ambiance that reflects artistic flair and cultural trendsetting.
The role of Sommelier at Faena New York is pivotal to enhancing the guests’ dining experience through expert wine guidance and flawless hospitality. The Sommelier is entrusted with the responsibility of assisting guests by navigating them through an expertly curated wine list, making tailored recommendations that amplify the culinary journey, and ensuring each pairing complements the flavors and presentation of the dishes offered. This position requires deep wine expertise, including mastery over Old and New World varietals and regions, an intricate understanding of food pairing techniques, and an exceptional ability to engage guests with storytelling and personalized service that elevates every visit.
This is a full-time temporary position for a three-month term, offering compensation at $20.00 per hour plus tips. The Sommelier will operate in a high-energy luxury dining environment, working closely with chefs, beverage directors, and service staff to develop and maintain an evolving and innovative wine program. Beyond guest interaction, responsibilities include maintaining the wine cellar, managing inventory, conducting educational tastings and trainings, and fostering relationships with wine distributors and vendors to secure access to premium selections. The role also involves compliance with local and state alcohol regulations, ensuring that every aspect of wine service meets the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
At FAENA, the Sommelier must possess strong multitasking skills to function efficiently amid the fast-paced atmosphere of luxury hospitality. This position demands not only technical wine knowledge but also a passion for delivering memorable guest experiences through personalized engagement, education, and impeccable service. The ideal candidate is proficient in wine list management, cost control analysis, and wine sales tracking, while also being fluent in English with a preference for additional languages such as French, Italian, or Spanish to cater to an international clientele. Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential to meet the operational needs of this vibrant hospitality setting.
