Job Description
White Lodging is a distinguished hospitality company that develops and operates a diverse portfolio of award-winning, premium-brand hotels, rooftop bars, and restaurants located in some of the most desirable cities to live in the United States. The company is committed to excellence in hospitality, understanding that the essence of the hospitality business lies in how you make people feel, whether in a bustling urban hotel or a quiet, luxurious retreat. White Lodging prides itself on creating environments where guests experience exceptional service and memorable moments. Their commitment to quality and guest satisfaction has positioned them as a leader in the hospitality industry, continuously expanding and delivering standout experiences across their portfolio.
The role of Sommelier at Yacht Club, within the Hotel Trinity, Autograph Collection in Austin, Texas, is an exciting opportunity for hospitality professionals passionate about wine and guest service. Yacht Club is the signature fine dining seafood restaurant located on the ground floor of Hotel Trinity, Austin's newest luxury boutique hotel scheduled to open in late 2026. This 258-room private hideaway is situated at the intersection of Trinity and Fifth Streets, in the heart of downtown Austin's historic 6th Street entertainment district. As the only Marriott Autograph Collection hotel in the city center, Hotel Trinity offers a unique blend of luxury and local culture. Yacht Club serves as an anchor establishment, showcasing a refined yet approachable coastal cuisine menu, including high-quality fresh seafood, an oyster bar, thoughtful steakhouse offerings, and seasonal menu rotations. The wine and beverage program is a significant element of the restaurant's identity, emphasizing elevated, polished, and attentive service that combines lively social energy with upscale dining.
In this role, the Sommelier will play a critical, hands-on part in enhancing the guest dining experience through expert wine knowledge and exceptional wine service. The responsibilities will include leading wine service on the floor, offering insightful and thoughtful recommendations to complement dishes and elevate the overall dining experience. Maintaining and updating comprehensive wine lists, managing inventory efficiently, and ensuring that all wine selections are accurately represented and up to the company and restaurant's high standards are key aspects of the job. The Sommelier will collaborate closely with the front-of-house team, providing training and education regarding wine selections, service protocols, and pairing techniques. Operational duties include assisting with monthly inventory checks, restocking, and participating in opening and closing procedures, as well as managing wine station organization. Participation in occasional wine-focused events will further enhance the wine culture and guest engagement at Yacht Club.
This position is ideal for those with at least one year of sommelier experience in fine dining or luxury hospitality environments. Ideal candidates possess an in-depth understanding of wines, including knowledge of global varietals, production methods, and regional wine laws and regulations. Preferred candidates hold professional certifications such as WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust), Court of Master Sommeliers, or similar credentials. Essential to success in this role are excellent communication and organizational skills, a service-first mindset, and a collaborative spirit that leads by example. The Sommelier must be flexible to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed, aligning with the dynamic nature of the hospitality industry.
White Lodging offers an attractive benefits package and fosters an inclusive work environment. From day one, associates can access medical, dental, and vision insurance. Benefits extend to paid parental leave, vacation and paid time off with rollover options, a 401(k) plan with company match, and complimentary wellness tools. Additional perks include unlimited referral bonuses, leadership development opportunities, tuition reimbursement, and discounts on hotel rooms, dining, and other travel and entertainment experiences. White Lodging values diversity and strives to create an inclusive workplace where every associate feels supported and valued.
