Established with a foundation of inclusivity, forward-thinking vision, and dedication to excellence, the company prides itself on creating welcoming environments where guests feel at home while enjoying luxurious amenities. Durango, one of Station Casinos' flagship destinations, embodies this mission by offering a best-in-class hospitality experience coupled with exciting amenities designed to delight guests across its various venues. The steakhouse beverage department at Durango plays a pivotal role in enhancing the overall dining atmosphere by ensuring that the beverage offerings meet the company’s high standards of quality and service.

The Sommelier position within the Steakhouse Beverage Department is an essential role aimed at elevating the wine service and overall beverage experience at Durango. This role demands a combination of comprehensive wine knowledge, exceptional service skills, and the ability to train and inspire team members to uphold the luxury and approachable atmosphere that Durango strives to maintain.

In this role, you will work closely with the Corporate Director of Beverage to manage wine inventories across the steakhouse venues, maintain updated and appealing wine lists, and cultivate a distinctive wine image for each restaurant. Your expertise will also be crucial in training beverage team members on wine preparation, presentation, and service techniques. Moreover, you will assist in the planning and execution of wine dinners and special events, further enriching the guests’ dining experiences.

Durango and Station Casinos value core personal qualities in their team members, such as kindness, inclusivity, forward-thinking, reliability, passion, and self-awareness. These non-negotiable values ensure that the team creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all guests. The Sommelier is expected to embody these values naturally and demonstrate a genuine enthusiasm for both wine and people.

The ideal candidate for this Sommelier position will have a solid foundation of wine knowledge, encompassing the methods of wine production, understanding of wine regions, grape varieties, vintages, and the practical application of this expertise in a luxury restaurant setting. Preferred qualifications include completion of Level 1 and Level 2 certifications from the Court of Master Sommeliers and at least two years of experience in restaurant service or management within a luxury environment. Candidates must be at least 21 years old and possess or be able to obtain all necessary work permits.

This full-time role offers the opportunity to join a dynamic team dedicated to excellence in hospitality. The Sommelier will contribute directly to the success of Durango as an upscale yet approachable destination, creating memorable experiences for guests through personalized service and a superior wine program.
