Job Description

Station Casinos, founded by Frank Fertitta, Jr., is a prominent company renowned for creating inclusive and forward-thinking casino resorts tailored to local residents. Known for its dedication to providing exceptional hospitality and vibrant entertainment experiences, the company has developed a reputation as a leading destination for guests seeking memorable moments in a welcoming and luxurious atmosphere. Among its establishments is Durango, a premier venue designed to serve as a local hub where guests feel at ease and valued, offering a blend of comfort, luxury, and exciting amenities. Durango stands out by combining approachable luxury with the warmth of a community gathering place, attracting individuals who appreciate high-quality service and an engaging environment.

The Sommelier position within the Steakhouse Beverage Department at Durango epitomizes the company's commitment to excellence and memorable guest experiences. This role is integral to upholding the venue's image as an approachable luxury destination. The Sommelier is responsible for managing wine presentation and service across multiple outlets, ensuring that every guest enjoys the highest standard of wine service, consistent with the venue's upscale yet welcoming style. A critical element of the role involves managing wine lists for various venues, working closely with the Corporate Director of Beverage to oversee steakhouse wine inventories, and cultivating a compelling wine program that enhances the restaurant's prestige.

Additionally, the Sommelier plays an essential role in training beverage team members to maintain consistency and quality in guest service standards, helping to deliver delightful and personalized service that reflects Durango's values. Leading wine dinners and coordinating wine-related events also form part of the responsibilities, contributing to sophisticated and engaging guest experiences.

This position requires not only relevant technical skills and experience but also a personal alignment with the company's core values. Durango emphasizes kindness, inclusivity, reliability, passion, and self-awareness as non-negotiable traits for its team members. The Sommelier role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that values personal growth alongside professional excellence. Candidates with a solid foundation of wine knowledge, including expertise in production methods, grape varieties, regions, vintages, and practical application, will find this role especially rewarding.

Preferred qualifications include completion of Levels 1 and 2 of the Court of Master Sommeliers, alongside at least two years of experience in restaurant service or management in a luxury setting. Candidates must be at least 21 years old and able to obtain all necessary work permits. This role not only delivers a chance to engage with a sophisticated wine program but also invites professionals who aspire to contribute to a culture of exceptional hospitality and luxury made approachable. The company values individuals who are forward-thinking and passionate about elevating guest experiences in a local setting, offering a career path within a well-established and respected brand.
