As a Sommelier at Bavette's Steakhouse & Bar, you will play a vital role in elevating the overall dining experience through your expert knowledge of wine and exceptional guest interaction. This position requires a specialist who can blend passion for hospitality with deep understanding of wine varieties, regions, and pairings. You will guide guests on a curated wine journey that perfectly complements the rich flavors of Bavette's menu, enhancing their enjoyment and creating memorable moments for each visitor.

Your responsibilities will extend beyond guest engagement to include managing wine inventories, evaluating new wine selections, and maintaining the quality and presentation of the cellar and service area. As a trusted wine expert, you will collaborate with wine suppliers and the restaurant team to ensure a diverse and high-quality wine program that meets the expectations of a sophisticated clientele. This full-time role offers a competitive starting wage of $15.4297 per hour and demands flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays. Job Requirements

  • 21+ years of age
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent required
  • 1+ years of prior relevant experience required
  • Work varied shifts, to include weekends and holidays required
  • Certified sommelier certification required

  • Ability to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Maintain complete knowledge of wine list and wine and food pairing
  • Collect money while following all proper cash handling and comp procedures
  • Clean equipment, tools, and supplies and ensure equipment is in good working order including cleanliness, sanitation, and appearance of workstation
  • Maintain and update cellar/storage inventory according to set pars and internal controls and request product to maintain stock in designated area
  • Meet regularly with the wine trade to actively seek quality wines for the restaurant wine program as well as evaluate wines and other beverage for potential purchase
  • Eliminate waste by training and supervising employees on wine knowledge, pour levels, proper storage, etc
  • Verify accuracy of wine delivery ordered and received from the main warehouse and return or exchange deliveries when a warehouse error has occurred
  • Maintain appropriate beverage costs by managing purchases and requisitions
