The Sommelier & Beverage Manager role at Broken Sound Club is a unique leadership opportunity within the Food & Beverage Department. Reporting directly to the Director and Assistant Director of Food & Beverage, this position is pivotal in driving the beverage program that encompasses an extensive selection of wines, spirits, beers, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages. The Sommelier & Beverage Manager will be responsible for the strategic development and execution of beverage offerings to ensure they meet the Club's standards of excellence while maximizing profitability. This includes curating beverage menus, managing inventory, overseeing procurement, and leading operational compliance. Beyond management duties, the role emphasizes member engagement through educational tastings, special events, and personalized service that enhances the overall member experience.

This position demands a deep understanding of beverage trends, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for hospitality. The Sommelier & Beverage Manager will spearhead initiatives such as the Club’s Wine Society, retail wine sales, and creative beverage programming aimed at elevating member satisfaction and operational efficiency. They will also be tasked with training and developing the beverage service team, ensuring adherence to health, safety, and alcohol service regulations, and maintaining strong vendor relationships. The role requires a dynamic individual capable of thriving in a fast-paced, luxury hospitality environment, demonstrating sound judgment, effective problem-solving, and a proactive approach to service excellence. Job Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry beverage inventory up to 50-70 pounds
  • Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, and movement throughout service areas
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors as operational needs require
  • Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, holidays, and club events
  • Minimum 3 years of food & beverage leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of wine, spirits, beer, cocktails, and beverage trends
  • Proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) systems

Job Qualifications

  • Certified sommelier designation preferred

  • Private club, luxury hospitality, resort, or fine dining experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Oversee the upkeep, implementation, and adherence of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency, operational efficiency, and compliance with Club standards
  • Develop and maintain beverage programs across all dining venues, banquets, and special events
  • Curate wine, spirits, beer, and non-alcoholic beverage selections
  • Maintain beverage menus, wine lists, and pairing recommendations
  • Drive beverage innovation, retail wine sales, and member engagement through creative programming, educational experiences, and strategic beverage initiatives that enhance both member satisfaction and departmental profitability
  • Monitor beverage trends and recommend new products, recipes, and service enhancements that align with member preferences
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all wine, cocktail, beer, and beverage offerings to effectively support associates, educate members, and enhance the member experience
