Alongside its flagship restaurants, Momofuku offers Momofuku Goods, a line of restaurant-grade products designed for home cooks who want to experience the unique flavors and quality that define the brand. This innovative company continuously pushes culinary boundaries while maintaining a deep commitment to quality, authenticity, and guest experience.
Kabawa and Bar Kabawa represent the next exciting ventures from Chef Paul Carmichael and Momofuku. These establishments focus on celebrating Caribbean culture in New York's East Village, reflecting Chef Paul’s culinary journey and passion for bringing vibrant Caribbean flavors to a broader audience. These projects aim to create an immersive and authentic dining experience that highlights the richness of Caribbean cuisine while fitting seamlessly into Momofuku’s reputation for excellence and creativity.
The role of Sommelier at Kabawa is a leadership position responsible for all aspects of beverage and service operations. The Sommelier will collaborate closely with the Beverage Manager, chefs, and Front of House Managers to develop and uphold the highest standards of the beverage program. This position involves direct guest interaction and requires a deep understanding of beverage offerings, including wine, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages. The Sommelier will ensure the beverage program enhances the overall dining experience by offering expert pairing suggestions and maintaining outstanding service quality.
Compensation for this role is $14.00 per hour plus applicable tips. This position at Momofuku offers a competitive compensation package alongside a comprehensive benefits program. Employees enjoy medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401k retirement savings plans, paid time off, flexible spending accounts, employee assistance programs, and dining discounts. The company places a strong emphasis on employee growth, offering numerous opportunities for personal and professional development within a dynamic, collaborative work environment.
Working as a Sommelier at Kabawa means being a key player in a vibrant and culturally rich dining setting. Candidates will drive guest satisfaction through impeccable beverage service in line with the restaurant's goals, contributing to a memorable, high-quality guest experience. Responsibilities include responsible alcohol service, maintaining service standards, assisting with beverage program innovation, supporting the team during service, and ensuring accurate and organized service areas. With steady guidance from management, the Sommelier helps refine and evolve the beverage offerings to keep them aligned with guest preferences and restaurant excellence.
This role demands excellent communication and organizational skills, a team-oriented mindset, adaptability in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to maintain composure under pressure. The ideal candidate will have a foundational knowledge of wine and a willingness to expand their expertise across spirits and non-alcoholic beverages. Momofuku is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce, encouraging applications from individuals who share a passion for culinary arts and exceptional service.
