Job Description

The hiring establishment is a distinguished hospitality venue known for its commitment to exceptional beverage experiences. This establishment prides itself on offering a diverse and curated selection of wines, saké, beer, spirits, specialty cocktails, teas, and sodas, all designed to elevate the dining experience for its guests. As a key player in the food and beverage industry, the company maintains high standards of quality and service, emphasizing customer satisfaction and an upscale atmosphere. The organization seeks to uphold these values while maximizing profitability through strategic beverage offerings and knowledgeable staff.

The Sommelier role at this prestigious venue is an essential position within the Beverage Program. Reporting directly to the Wine Director, the Sommelier is instrumental in supporting the establishment's mission by maintaining high standards of quality and service while contributing to the business's financial success. This full-time position involves extensive customer interaction on the floor during service hours, where the Sommelier must utilize upselling techniques to optimize beverage sales. With a profound understanding of all beverages available, the Sommelier serves as the go-to expert, providing guests with detailed recommendations that suit their preferences and enhance their overall dining experience.

Beyond direct sales, the Sommelier is responsible for overseeing the cleanliness and maintenance of essential beverage tools such as decanters and wine stations, underscoring the importance of presentation and hygiene in delivering excellent service. The role demands flexibility, as opening and closing responsibilities are shared, and additional duties may be assigned by the Chef Sommelier to meet operational needs. The Sommelier will regularly attend food and beverage training classes to maintain and expand knowledge, staying current with industry trends and best practices.

This position requires a passionate individual with excellent communication skills, capable of interacting effectively with guests at all levels while supporting team members whenever necessary. The Sommelier must have an in-depth knowledge of food preparation and beverage pairings to skillfully upsell products, including liquors and cocktails. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, safety-conscious, and organized, exhibiting professionalism and polished personal grooming at all times. Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and stand for prolonged periods. The role also requires a flexible schedule, including availability for late nights, holidays, and extended shifts.

Overall, this Sommelier position is ideal for a dedicated hospitality professional eager to grow within an esteemed establishment, contributing to both guest satisfaction and profitability through expert beverage service and team collaboration.
