Job Description
Hawksmoor is a distinguished international restaurant group with roots spanning the UK, Ireland, Chicago, and New York, now setting its sights on Boston, one of the most vibrant and historically rich cities in the United States. Known for its commitment to sustainability, community, and exceptional culinary experiences, Hawksmoor has built a reputation for excellence over the past two decades. The Boston opening, scheduled for fall 2026, will be located in Fort Point at 15 Necco Street, a Platinum LEED-certified building that aligns perfectly with Hawksmoor's values as a B Corporation committed to responsible and sustainable business practices. This new location will offer seating for over 200 guests, private dining and event spaces, and boasts an acclaimed bar program recognized by the James Beard Foundation and Tales of the Cocktail. Guests can also enjoy sweeping views across Fort Point Channel and a spacious outdoor terrace designed for both leisurely lunches and celebratory dinners.
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Sommelier to join our Boston team as part of our exciting expansion. Reporting to the General Manager, the Sommelier will play a vital role in the successful launch and ongoing operation of our third US restaurant. This position offers an incredible opportunity to be part of an award-winning restaurant group known for its generous pay, comprehensive benefits, and a workplace culture celebrated for warmth, integrity, and genuine hospitality—traits that have garnered Hawksmoor recognition as one of the top 100 companies to work for in the UK for fourteen consecutive years.
As the Sommelier at Hawksmoor Boston, you will be instrumental in delivering an extraordinary guest experience by championing our renowned wine program and maintaining our high service standards. Your expertise will be central to guiding guests confidently through the wine list, offering thoughtful pairings that complement Hawksmoor’s exceptional food and beverage offerings. You will lead and inspire the wine team, ensuring seamless service delivery during both regular and large-party settings, and provide ongoing training and development to uphold our wine service excellence.
This role involves close collaboration with restaurant management and service teams to foster a positive, team-oriented environment that prioritizes exceptional hospitality. You will be responsible for maintaining expert knowledge not only of our wine offerings but also of our food and beverage suppliers, ensuring that your recommendations and guidance are grounded in the story and quality behind each product. Additionally, you will oversee operational aspects such as cellar management, stock control, and compliance with health and safety standards. Your professionalism in resolving guest concerns and enhancing the overall dining experience will be crucial to your success in this role.
Joining Hawksmoor means becoming part of a community that values diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Our Sommelier will embody these values by using inclusive language, demonstrating empathy towards guests and team members, and supporting our company’s charity partnerships and sustainability initiatives. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a respected international brand's growth in a new and exciting market while developing your career within a culture that nurtures talent and celebrates collaboration.
