Job Description
City Winery is a unique establishment that blends the best of wine, food, and live entertainment to create an unparalleled hospitality experience. Established in 2008 by music industry visionary Michael Dorf, City Winery has become a celebrated name nationwide for its innovative approach to combining intimate concert performances with a fully functioning winery and exquisite dining options. With locations that bring the charm and sophistication of wine country into the heart of the city, City Winery caters to an upscale clientele of food lovers, wine enthusiasts, and cultural patrons seeking premium culinary and musical experiences. Our mission is to deliver not just a meal or a concert but a fully immersive sensory experience where guests can enjoy world-class wines, artisanal dishes, and live music performances in a vibrant setting. We pride ourselves on creating a warm, inclusive environment where community and creativity thrive, making City Winery much more than just a restaurant or music venue, but a cultural destination.
The sommelier position at City Winery is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a team dedicated to elevating the live music and hospitality industries. As a sommelier, you will serve as our in-house wine and beverage expert, playing a critical role in maximizing beverage sales while ensuring that every guest receives outstanding service that exceeds expectations. This role is perfect for individuals passionate about wine, beverages, and delivering exceptional guest experiences. You will be responsible for recommending wine and food pairings, educating guests on beverage selections, supporting beverage department operations such as monthly inventory management, and maintaining a well-organized wine cellar. The ideal candidate possesses solid knowledge of global wine regions—including Old and New World wines—producer and vintage information, and an earnest desire to advance our wine program through clear communication and continual learning.
This full-time role demands a professional with at least two years of sommelier experience in fast-paced restaurant environments and an ability to manage guest expectations with poise and a polished presentation. Your duties will extend beyond guest interaction, requiring teamwork, attention to detail, organizational prowess, and flexibility to work a variety of schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Physical stamina is necessary as the role involves standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds. At City Winery, we seek a team player with excellent communication skills who can foster positive relationships with guests and coworkers alike. If you are dedicated to hospitality, eager to educate others, and want to contribute to a dynamic, culturally rich venue, this is the perfect place to grow your career. City Winery is also committed to diversity and equal opportunity, valuing the unique contributions of all employees while complying with applicable laws and regulations.
